Houses in Durrow on main Kilkeny road damaged in a river of rain

Road near Durrow was like a river

Action is needed to avoid a repeat of damage to houses and cars damaged in Durrow when flooding came like a river on the main Laois to Kilkenny road.

So believes Cllr Ollie Clooney, Independent, who wants Laois County Council to put in place measures to relieve flooding at Tinweir, Durrow on the N77 road.

He tabled a motion at recent meeting with the local authority where he explained what happened.

“The rain came like a river so it flooded cars and houses. We don’t want a repeat. It is urgent because the rain will come again,” he said.

The Roads Design Section will meet with Cllr Clooney on site to review the issue and identify a solution.

The issue was raised at the Borris-in-Osory Mountmelllick Municipal District meeting in November.
