Amber have reminded the public that this is the last weekend of their ‘Shop Local Support Local’ campaign in Kilkenny.
Amber Women's Refuge, who work to empower women and children of all cultures and backgrounds to live abuse-free lives, has reminded people that this is the last weekend of their ‘Shop Local Support Local’ campaign in Kilkenny.
On social media they said: “This is the last weekend our ‘Shop Local, Support Local’ donation units will be in locally owned stores in Kilkenny. Please, if you can, donate to us while shopping in our supporters’ stores. Thanks to all who have already donated ”
Shops and businesses participating in the campaign include Breda's Gift Shop, O'Shea's Pharmacy, the Butterslip, the Life Pharmacy Newpark, the Haven Pharmacy O'Connell's, Face 2 and Cakeface, Folkster, 38Co, Yesterdays, The Little Green Grocer and Tip Top Toes.
So, if you are out and about last minute shopping in Kilkenny this weekend, please take a moment to remember these businesses supporting the Amber campaign, shop with them and donate what you can to Amber.
Domestic abuse does not stop at Christmas - it can actually escalate. By donating to Amber you help them to pursue their vital work and pursue their vision which they describe eloquently: “Our vision is of a society where domestic abuse is recognised as a serious crime and which recognises the consequences of domestic abuse for those affected; a society where the root causes of domestic abuse i.e. the unequal power relations between men and women, are addressed and which holds the perpetrators responsible for the crime, while supporting men who want to change; a society where families are nurtured, where women and children are living in an inclusive and safe society, and where unequal power relations between men and women are eliminated.”
