March - Celebrating Kilkenny people at home and abroad for St Patrick’s Day

Nearer to home, a nurse originally from Dungarvan in Kilkenny walked alongside Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, as Grand Marshal of the London St Patrick’s Day Parade.
Jane Callaway is the Lead Nurse for Infection Prevention and Control at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust hospital, in the heart of London. She left Kilkenny to train as a nurse and has been living in London in 1998. She is now married to Chris and they have two little girls - Ella (10) and Robyn (six).


In sombre news, a local man was convicted of murder in March. Trevor Rowe, had pleaded not guilty to murdering 71-year-old Anne Butler at her home at Maudlin Street, Kilkenny on March 20, 2020.
Following a trial, the jury took just one hour and 19 minutes to find Mr Rowe guilty of murder. A mandatory life sentence was later handed down.
