There was great excitement in Kilkenny today as filming took place on an exciting new television series.
Filming for the series began on Monday in parts of County Kilkenny but moved to the city earlier today (Wednesday).
It took place outside County Hall and according to Kilkenny County Council, there was 'great excitement' as filming got underway.
The Inheritance, a Channel Five/Peer Pressure production will be filmed in Kilkenny over the next five weeks, with an additional week of filming scheduled to take place in Inistioge.
Around 100 cast and crew members will be staying in Kilkenny for the duration of the shoot, providing a major boost to the economy especially the hospitality sector.
The drama is produced by Richard Cook, who is well known locally as the founder of The Cat Laughs Festival and Subtitle and was also involved in the setting up of Kilkenomics, the world’s first economy and comedy festival.
Mr Cook describes The Inheritance as ‘having elements of both suspense and mystery’ and centres around the death of a father who dies unexpectedly with a seemingly close family. The money and house is not left to his family, but to a third party, who is not known to the family. The series is co-produced by Angela Squire and Lesley Douglas.
