Street collection in Kilkenny shut down by gardaí

High Street in Kilkenny

Acting on suspicions raised by members of the public, gardaí in Kilkenny stopped a street collection on High Street this morning.

The collection has been stopped 'until the Bona Fides of the collection and the legality of permits is ascertained', according to a garda spokesperson.

"In the interim, all funds have been seized."

Any person carrying out a street, house to house collection or lottery must have the appropriate permissions.
