Permission granted to demolish former factory and construct houses in Kilkenny

An Bord Pleanála have granted planning permission to Hansa Properties Ltd. to demolish a former hosiery factory in Talbot's Inch and construct four houses on the site, as well as renovate an existing derelict cottage.

The site, which has a stated area of 0.7ha, is located within Talbot's Inch Village off the Freshford Road within Kilkenny City.

Talbot's Inch Village is designated as an Architectural Conservation Area.

Kilkenny County Council had originally issued a notification of decision to grant permission for the development subject to seventeen conditions.

That decision was subsequently appealed to An Bord Pleanála who have ruled that the proposed development 'would not seriously injure the character or setting of Talbot's Inch Village'.

The national planning board have however applied thirteen conditions to the approval that the developer must follow during the construction phase.
