Plans for residential building in Kilkenny appealed to An Bord Pleanála

An Bord Pleanála

Plans to construct a large residential building in Kilkenny City have been successfully appealed to An Bord Pleanála.

Earlier this month, Kilkenny County Council approved the planning application for the building, due to be constructed on the O’Loughlin Road.

The existing buildings on the site, including a public house/restaurant and residential building, were to be demolished to make way for the development.

Four third party appeals were subsequently made to An Bord Pleanála following the decision of Kilkenny County Council to grant permission.

One of these appeals was deemed 'invalid' by An Bord Pleanála and that appellant will have their fee refunded and documents returned.

An inspector will now be appointed to examine the site and compile a report.

An Bord Pleanála will consider the inspector's report and are expected to make a final decision on the plans by July 25, 2023.
