Kilkenny listed ahead of Dubai as a top ten worldwide destination for architecture lovers!

Kilkenny has beaten off some very stiff competition to be named as one of the best cities in the world for lovers of architecture, according to a recent study compiled by Buildworld.

Kilkenny made the list at number eight, one place ahead of Dubai.

The study placed Iasi (Romania) as the top destination, followed by Manchester (UK) / Quezon City (Philippines) in joint-second place.

Kilkenny is also the only Irish city to make the list!

How did Buildworld arrive at these results?

As part of their methodology, Buildworld identified the top 10 destination cities in every country according to each country's Tripadvisor page.

Next, they filtered the listings in each of these cities to find reviews of local architecture.

Then they calculated the percentage of architectural sites in each city that have a 4.5 or 5-star rating and ranked the cities according to this metric.

Here is the full top ten: 1) Iasi (Romania), 2) Manchester (UK) / Quezon City (Philippines), 4) Liverpool (UK), 5) Quito (Ecuador), 6) Chicago (USA), 7) Lucerne (Switzerland), 8) Kilkenny (Ireland), 9) Dubai (United Arab Emirates), 10) Belgrade (Serbia) / Quebec City (Canada)
