The Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH) Community Housing Awards 2023, sponsored by Allianz, showcase housing association and local authority public housing schemes at their very best.
This year, they have shortlisted 30 projects delivered in rural and urban settings throughout Ireland. From energy optimisation to social integration, these projects are innovative ‘whole of community’ responses to a nationwide housing crisis.
One development in Kilkenny has made the shortlist for the public vote - Kilkenny County Council's Pairc Nua, Castlecomer Road. Vote on https://icsh.ie/
Projects shortlisted for the ICSH Allianz Community Housing Awards 2023 are also competing in the Public Choice Award 2023. We’re very excited to continue with this category award, as it gives members of the public an opportunity to support a participating project that they feel is most deserved of recognition.
Speaking in advance of the Community Housing Awards, Donal McManus, Chief Executive of the ICSH said the 2023 award entries demonstrate the dedication of the sector and the scale of the social and affordable housing development work that is ongoing throughout the country, but that often remains unseen. "These entries from local authorities, approved housing bodies and cooperative housing bodies exemplify the collaborative work that is happening to deliver housing to those who need it most and during very challenging times."
RTÉ (and Nationwide) presenter, Anne Cassin, (who will be presenting the awards on 18th October in Clayton Whites Hotel, Wexford) added: "I’m delighted to be presenting the 2023 Community Housing Awards. The 30 shortlisted projects are truly impressive examples of creativity, collaboration and a ‘can do’ community response to public and affordable housing need throughout the country. In particular, the Public Choice Award 2023 presents an opportunity for everyone to stand up and applaud the project that they feel is most deserved of recognition. So please get online at www.icsh.ie and vote. I salute all those involved and look forward to announcing the winners on the 18th October."
The ICSH Allianz Biennial Community Housing Awards, first established in 2003, is now in its 20th year. Our awards categories celebrate family housing, projects addressing homelessness and supported housing that recognises the needs of disabled people, and the evolving supports that older people need to live well. Regeneration schemes are at the forefront this year – a robust response to the scourge of vacancy. And projects that deliver affordability for middle income households as well as solutions that address energy poverty and lower carbon emissions are also welcome newcomers to our eleven Community Housing Awards categories. Winners will be announced at the ICSH Biennial National Social Housing Conference on Wednesday 18th October 2023 in the Clayton Whites Hotel Wexford.
The Public Choice Award 2023 is an opportunity for you, the public, to give the nod to the project that wows you, inspires you and that gives you hope that we’re building for community.
