Legendary Kilkenny figure passes away

Tributes have been pourinng in for the late Billy Murphy

The death has occurred of William (Billy) Murphy, Maple Drive, Ardnore, Kilkenny. Unexpectedly at St Luke's Hospital, on January 25.

Mr Murphy was a well-known musician and broadcaster locally and his passing has left much of the Kilkenny community in mourning.

Beloved husband of Jill and much loved father of Liz and Jane. Billy will be dearly missed by his loving wife and daughters, sisters Mary, Nell, Olive and Clare, sons-in-law Anthony and Padhraic, grandchildren Conor, Eoin and Will, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, extended family, wonderful neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Billy is predeceased by his parents William (Galtee) and Tess, brother Jim and sisters Kit, Joan, Vera and Daphne.

Reposing in Johnston's Funeral Home (R95XE00) on Monday, January 29 from 4pm with Funeral Prayers at 6.30pm followed by removal to St Patrick's Church. Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 12noon. Funeral afterwards to St. Kieran's Cemetery. House private please. The Requiem Mass can be live streamed here: https://mcn.live/Camera/st-patricks-kilkenny

Flowers are welcome but a donation, in lieu, can be made to The St. Vincent de Paul Society, a charity close to Billy's heart.
