Kilkenny Gardaí have issued an €80 fine to a driver who parked in a cycle lane in the city centre on Saturday.
"The owner of this car observed by one of our lads a few minutes ago will hopefully realise that parking in a contra flow cycle lane on High Street is not free. It endangers other road users, it may cause havoc," a post to the Garda Facebook page said.

Meanwhile, free parking period will be fully restored in the city centre from Monday, September 2.
Reinstating the free period was unanimously supported by all seven elected members of Kilkenny Municipal District at the May meeting, before the local elections. Members hoped it would have been implemented some time ago.
