An opening date for the long awaited re-opening of the Lacken Boardwalk in Kilkenny City has been confirmed.
The local walkway will reopen tomorrow (Wednesday) with all works barring the completion of landscaping complete. Those works are expected to be concluded early in 2025.

The landscaping proposal provides for the planting of approximately 2500 native tree saplings, including alder, birch, hawthorn, willow, oak and elderberry which will be complimented by the sowing of a native woodland seed mix.
The new boardwalk will be more accessible to wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility and to those with prams as well as dog walkers.
