Runners of all ages will be lacing up their shoes to have a crack at the Cois Nore 5K this weekend.
Now in its fourth year the event, which is open to all, will be held in the Castle Park on Monday, the St Brigid’s Day Bank Holiday, at 11am. There will also be a 1km run/walk for children of primary school age.
The event is a big fundraiser for Cois Nore, who provide free confidential support and both professional and voluntary services to people of all ages affected by cancer and their families, enabling them to live well with their diagnosis. Cois Nore depend on fundraising to ensure that their services can continue to be provided free of charge to the people of Kilkenny.
“We are thrilled to be able to hold this event,” said Sheila Murphy, Cois Nore Fundraising Co-Ordinator. “The Cois Nore 5K has been a great success for the past few years and we are looking forward to it being an even bigger success this year.”
“We are very appreciative for the wonderful support we have received for the event,” added Bill Cuddihy, Cois Nore chairperson. “Carne have come on board as a new sponsor for this year’s 5K while we continue to have great support from KCLR and Kilkenny City Harriers. The support our sponsors give has made the holding of this event possible.”
People can register for the 5K by logging on to coisnore.ie/5k. The first 250 entrants will receive a free 2025 exclusive Cartoon Saloon designed t-shirt. The 5K registration fee for adults is €25 and €15 for under-16s. Entry for the 1K is limited to primary school aged children with a registration fee of €10.
