Works badly needed to stop spot floods causing havoc for pedestrians and cyclists on busy Kilkenny road

'Householders complaining for quite a while and problems are particularly apparent after recent heavy rainfall'

A local councillor is calling for badly-needed works to be carried out to prevent instances of spot flooding along a busy city route.

Labour's Seán Ó hArgáin says the pooling of water on the cycle lane and at the entrance to residences on the Castlecomer Road is causing havoc for pedestrians and cylists using the road, as well as local residents.

"The problem is particularly acute on the western side of the road (opposite the Newpark Hotel and the adjacent new housing development)," he says.

"The householders have been complaining about this issue for quite a while and the problems are particularly apparent today after recent heavy rainfall. The pooling causes inconvenience and poses a danger to pedestrians and cyclists alike, an experience I see most days myself.  I would ask that this matter be prioritised please."
