Contract signed for major Kilkenny development project

Cois Nore’s new home on the Waterford Road, Kilkenny, has taken a significant step forward with the signing of a contract to develop their new centre.

After a competitive tendering process, local building company Eugene Foley Construction Ltd has been appointed to refurbish the existing premises and convert it into a welcoming home for Cois Nore.

Bill Cuddihy, Cois Nore’s chairperson, said this is a significant step for everyone in Cois Nore.

Safe Haven
“We are delighted to have local contractor Eugene Foley working with us. Eugene and his team have a well-earned reputation for quality work, and we are looking forward to creating a safe haven where those affected by cancer can find the psychological, practical, and community support they need to rebuild and recover,” he said.

“We’re building a welcoming, comfortable facility that can provide increased capacity for existing services and for the development of new services.”

Mr Foley is conscious of the particular needs of Cois Nore and understands the desire to create a development which will allow Cois Nore to deliver the much-needed community services.

“We appreciate the opportunity to deliver this important project. We are looking forward to working with Cois Nore, their design team and Project Manager Bryan Meehan, and we understand the unique challenges to provide the space that will enable Cois Nore to cater for current and future needs,” he said.

Mary Dolan, Centre Manager is looking forward to the new development.
“Our mission is quite simple – we want to provide the people of Kilkenny, whose lives have been affected by cancer, with high quality, professional services and supports, free of charge, to help them to live well.

“We want to continue to be a key part of the response to a cancer diagnosis and this new centre will allow us to provide an increased range of professional services to more people in our community.”

Fundraising
Cois Nore’s fundraising drive continues and the community are responding.
Bill Cuddihy thanked all donors but reminds people that “our target is €2 million, and to date we have collected approximately €700,000. We have more to do, but Kilkenny people have been and continue to be extremely generous.
“Every euro collected will be used to support our neighbours, our friends or our family members.”
