Permission has been granted for the 'change of use' of a former An Post Insurance unit in the heart of Kilkenny City.
Rana Tanweer Ahmad had been seeking permission to change the use of the unit from an 'existing post office' to a 'non-surgical medical walk-in-clinic'.
Also being sought was permission for all associated site development works.
The unit in question is located at 2/3 James' Street, Kilkenny City.

The overall building is also currently occupied by Market Cross Dental Clinic (which use a separate ground floor street entrance and the upstairs section of the building). Their operations are not impacted by this decision.
The plans were received by Kilkenny County Council on February 7, and permission was granted (subject to four conditions) on April 2, 2025.
The unit is located on one of Kilkenny's main pedestrian thoroughfares, with both Kilkenny's High Street and St Mary's Cathedral located mere metres from the property.
Market Cross Shopping Centre is situated almost directly opposite the property, and nearby occupiers in the city include major businesses such as Bank of Ireland and Dunnes Stores.
