The local authority secured funding of €1.4 million under the National Transport Authority’s Active Travel Programme to improve the pedestrian and cyclist facilities on the road earlier this year.
The scheme includes additional pedestrian crossings, similar to those installed on the Outrath Road, improved footpaths and a school bus bay, enhancing safety for all road users. The works will also allow segregation between the existing cycle facilities and the carriageway at roundabouts and along the route.
Drawings are available to view at Loughboy Library.
Works are expected to begin in June or July of this year and will be ongoing for the remainder of 2025 and 2026.
Submissions can be made on the consult portal or e-mailed to; activetravel@kilkennycoco.ie up until Friday, April 25.
