An Garda Síochana in Kilkenny seized an e-scooter on Ballybough Street in the city over the weekend, making an outrageous and potentially dangerous discovery.
Posting to social media, a garda spokesperson said: "Kilkenny RPU seized this machine at a checkpoint a short while ago. The rider was using the scooter on a footpath and after inspection the vehicle was found to be a 500w model capable of speeds up to 45kmh.

"Illegal in any public place. Proceedings to follow," the post added.
"If you are using such an e scooter in any public place, stop. NO IFS OR BUTS."
