Kilkenny City-based tech company CloudMount, who specialise in AI compliance solutions has been shortlisted for the National Startup Awards announced this week.
The awards, now in their 14th year, celebrate Ireland’s brightest and most innovative early-stage companies. CloudMount’s selection places the company among the nation’s leading startups competing across multiple categories with the winners to be announced at a ceremony in Dublin’s City Hall on November 20.
CloudMount has developed AI Turbine, a groundbreaking solution that enables organisations to assess artificial intelligence systems in real time. The technology addresses the critical compliance gap facing Irish and European businesses as the EU AI Act enforcement begins, with potential fines reaching €35 million or 7% of global turnover for non-compliance.
“Being shortlisted for the National Startup Awards is a tremendous validation of our undertaking to guardrail AI within organisations of all sizes,” said Stephen Dwyer, CEO and Founder of CloudMount.
“Irish businesses are under unprecedented pressure to demonstrate responsible AI use, and our platform delivers instant assurance at a fraction of traditional consulting costs,” he added.

CloudMount says its Turbine platform serves multiple market segments and delivers 95% cost savings compared to traditional AI ethics consultants while providing 100-times faster analysis and that the technology aligns with UNESCO AI ethics frameworks, GDPR requirements and EU AI Act compliance standards.
The platform has attracted significant interest from Ireland’s startup ecosystem as AI adoption has surged to 91% of businesses while only 6% have deployed proper compliance systems.
CloudMount is actively engaged with Local Enterprise Office Kilkenny and is pursuing expansion opportunities throughout Ireland and the EU while they also harbor ambitions of replacing Glanbia as the main sponsor of Kilkenny GAA.
The company represents the county’s growing reputation as a technology innovation hub, joining established tech employers such as CluneTech, TransferMate and UKG in the region.
