Newly formed Kilkenny club helps members overcome a common fear

The Kilkenny Speakers featured a wide variety of topics at their latest meeting in the Club House Hotel on Tuesday.

Caitriona Loughrey described the French alpine getaway gem of Annecy with its cobbled streets, winding canals, medieval chateau and beautiful lake while Angela Kiernan took members through the benefits of book clubs and ended with a good recommendation of Niall Williams’ This is Happiness.

Karan Murphy went through the 800 year history of the Black Abbey and even Abraham Lincoln got a mention. Kilkenny Speakers is one of the 16,000 Toastmaster Clubs worldwide providing a safe, supportive place for developing public speaking, presentation and leadership skills.

The next two meetings will be on Tuesday 4 and 18 November at 8:00pm at the Club House Hotel. Guests are always welcome and there is no charge for the first three meetings.
