Kilkenny hurling fan to face 'penalties' as gardaí take action outside UPMC Nowlan Park

The Roads Policing Unit of Kilkenny gardaí took decisive action on matchday last weekend as hurling supporters from near and far attended UPMC Nowlan Park for the St Canice's Credit Union SHC Final.

Earlier this month, Kilkenny City Municipal District councillors spoke out against illegal parking on green areas and double-yellow lines around UPMC Nowlan Park on matchdays at their monthly meeting. - READ MORE HERE

On Sunday afternoon one driver's 'shocking parking' caught garda attention and upon further inspection, a myriad of offences were uncovered.

"Sometimes just like in the wild, the hunter spots quarry that has separated from its pack. In the wild it may be due to frailty or illness or even confusion," Kilkenny gardaí posted to social media.

"In Roads Policing it's often due to standing out from the crowd, in the case of this car by its shocking parking while its owner attended the match. Further weaknesses were suspected by an examination of the Mobility device which showed No Insurance, No NCT and No Tax.

"The Lion pounced and the struggle was brief with the car (cass) being hauled away on the back of our recovery," they added.

A court date is set to follow with 'penalties' expected according to the source.
