A large poster of Enoch Burke which appeared on a wall along Kilkenny's Canal Walk earlier this week has now been removed.
The unusual wall piece materialised overnight - depicting the now well-known, divisive figure standing with his schoolbag as he has often done outside the gates of Wilson's Hospital. The solitary figure also bore a sandwich board with the message 'Punks [sic] not dead'.
However, by Thursday morning the picture had disappeared - apparently scraped off. It's now prompting locals to wonder if it might return despite removal. WATCH NEXT: FUEL PROTEST BLOCKS MOTORWAY IN KILKENNY
As of now, the real Enoch Burke remains in prison for refusing to comply with a court order to stay away from Wilson's Hospital. The secondary school teacher has been involved in a long-running legal dispute, resulting in multiple periods of imprisonment for contempt of court.
Just over a week ago, his mother and sister were arrested at a prison in Roscommon after visiting him.
