Tributes have been paid to John 'JJ' Carrigan, formerly of The Sports Shop on High Street in Kilkenny City, following his recent passing.
John passed away peacefully on Wednesday at Aut Even Hospital, beloved husband of Eve and much loved father of Paul, Colin and Enda, sadly missed by his wife and sons, daughter-in-law Janet, grandchildren Kyle, Eva, Ben and Max, great grandson Phoenix, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
Condolences for John have been pouring in from far and wide.
One former customer of the shop described John as 'a lovely man' and said that 'he will be sorely missed on High Street and the Butterslip'.
Another said: "We shall miss him coming in for ‘the chat’, but he will live on fondly in our memories. A true gentleman who will be sorely missed on The Butterslip."
Funeral mass for John will take place on Monday (Nov 28) at 11am in St. Joseph's Church, Ballyfoyle and will be followed by interment in Foulkstown Cemetery, Kilkenny, arriving for 12.30pm approx.
