Culture Trail links city’s offerings

A KILKENNY Culture Trail has been launched for the summer holiday season.

The aim of the Kilkenny Culture Trail is to showcase the city’s range of cultural offerings such as heritage venues, theatres, sporting events, food and pub outlets, so that visitors can immerse themselves in Irish traditions such as crafting their hurling skills, testing their bodhrán rhythm, participating in literature reading and trying Irish dance.

It is hoped that the Kilkenny Culture Trail will bring further business to the city by also offering the Blasta Taste Trail once again this year, highlighting Kilkenny’s local foods and flavours.

Mayor Seán Ó hArgáin said the Kilkenny Culture Trail was a great addition to the excellent tourism product that Kilkenny provides. “From my own point of view, I look forward to playing the bodhrán or guitar in one of the city’s excellent sessions and joining in the festivities this year, both during and outside of our festivals,” he said. “I warmly welcome everybody who visits our city and hope they enjoy it as much as we do ourselves.”

Culture Trail brochures are available at the Kilkenny tourist office and various pubs, heritage venues, theatres, hotels and accommodation providers.

Participants include 17 city pubs, three restaurants and three hotels.
