It was smiles all round at the Newpark Hotel last Wednesday evening as last year’s No Name Club participants made their graduation.
Almost 50 teenagers sat down for dinner before Shane Doyle presented each of them with a certificate acknowledging their time there. The certificates will also be a healthy addition to their CVs in the future, demonstrating, among other things, social spirit, self-development and leadership.
Chairman Neil Gunning thanked those present and told them they had been an exceptional group of young adults.
In all, it was a hugely successful year for the club. Not only was did it win the overall Kilkenny People of the Year award last November, club member Alan Hayes also saw off stiff competition to be crowned Host of the Year – a national –honour – at the gala evening in the Lyrath Hotel.
The No Name Club has already started working with a new group of young people for the coming year. There was even more interest than ever before, with a large number of local students applying.
