KILKENNY Gardai, Special Olympic athletes and volunteers, will host the 2nd annual Cops on Donut Shops (TM), at High Street Kilkenny on Friday. The Gardai are hoping to raise funds for Special Olympics Ireland, as part of their committment to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

The donuts are again supplied this year, by Dolly’s Donuts of Oldtown Hill Bakehouse, Tullaroan. Joy, James and the Moore family businness supply the freshly made donuts, made overnight and all profits go to Special Olympics Ireland, in support of the athletes who attend the National and World Games every four years.

This year the Gardai have a new addition to the team and if you want to see him, you will have to go to the Town Hall on High Street on the day. Local celebrities will also be helping out on the day with Mick Galway of Irish and Munster Rugby fame, selling donuts for Special Olympics.

Also present will be Liam McCarthy and if you buy donuts you can have your picture taken with Liam. There will also be a 2011 Kilkenny All Ireland winning team signed jersey which will go to one lucky winner. If you buy a six pack of donuts for €5, you will be entered into the draw. There will also be two donut packs which will be on sale for €2. For further information on how the Gardai help Special Olympics, check out
