The redecoration and refurbishment of the interior of Rosbercon Church together with electrical updates to Tullogher and Mullinarrigle Churches is being carried out during the months of August, September and October.
Rosbercon Church is currently closed and the committee apologises for any inconvenience caused during the works. They says they will do their best to minimise the disruption.
The overall estimated cost of the project has been revised to €485,000. To date the Parish Building Fund, including the sale of the Parochial House in Tullogher, totals €185,000.
Rosbercon Parish has received a loan of €300,000 from the Diocesan Deposit and Loan Scheme to fund the works and this is scheduled to be repaid over five years. The interest rate will be 4%.
The committee offers its thanks to parishioners who have contributed to date to the Building Fund. Extra money has been pledged and it is hoped those who have yet to contribute will join in the fundraising effort.
Fr Dan and the Parish Finance Committee greatly appreciate the extra €1 that is being donated at the Offertory Collection at the weekend Masses. Already this Euro is making a difference to the fundraising effort. The extra money is lodged to Parish Building Fund.
Rosbercon Church was built in the 1950s and from then onwards provided a sacred place and spiritual sanctuary in the heart of Rosbercon Parish. Parishioners feel they have the responsibility to play their part in maintaining this place of worship for future generations.
The church is where local people come to pray, where the ceremonies of baptism, communion, confirmation and marriage take place. It is where people can find consolation and solace when their loved ones are laid to rest.
Those who attend the church now say it is their turn to create and maintain a comfortable and sacred environment where families, friends and neighbours may find spiritual support. The generosity of the parishioners and friends of Rosbercon, Tullogher and Listerlin communities is vital for this project.
From mid-August, Masses in Rosbercon will be celebrated in Our Lady of Lourdes School. People attending Mass should enter by the lower gate (nearest New Ross) and enter the school building by the hall door. The parish appreciates the hospitality shown by school principal Ken Moroney, the Board of Management and the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes.
