THIS Friday, December 9 , Mayor of Kilkenny David Fitzgerald will be switching on the Christmas Tree lights and officially declare Kilkenny’s Christmas Fair open.

The Fair will take place this year from 10 – 11th; 15th to 23rd December, on the City’s parade.

It will showcase the best artisan food, craft and distinctive giftware - perfect for that special Christmas gift - that the South East has to offer.

A great place to visit for all the family, younger visitors can take a ride on the beautiful Victorian Carousel, while Mum or Dad enjoy some warming artisan fare in the Food Court next door. The family can then visit either Santa’s Kingdom, only 2 minutes away at Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel, or take a trip to Kilkenny on Ice at Cillín Hill. For the first time this year’s Fair will include a dedicated performance space where a packed schedule of entertainment and events has been put together to entertain visitors – young and old alike, including Kilkenny Gospel Choir, Kilkenny Army Barracks Choir and Kilkenny Musical Society.
