Zombies to invade for thrilling festival

Kilkenny is set to be invaded by zombies this Halloween – in the form of a new “Thrillkenny Zombiefest” festival.

Kilkenny is set to be invaded by zombies this Halloween – in the form of a new “Thrillkenny Zombiefest” festival.

The two-day street festival that’s headed for the “medi-evil” city of Kilkenny on October 27 and 28 is presented by Budweiser and the Kilkenny Vintners Association.

At the heart of the festival will be a link-in with a global Thriller dance world record attempt on October 27 at 7pm in the Market Yard.

Free Thriller dance workshops will be held with the 2012 Adelaide Fringe Festival award winning-dance company Ponydance, and there will be late-night events including a zombie dead disco.

Street performances over the two days will include a Ponydance flash mob, performers from Cork Circus, pyrotechnic displays, live street music, zombie burlesque stilt walkers and sword swallowers.
