Construction work on a new fire station for Graignamanagh will likely begin in the autumn.
In September of last year, Kilkenny County Council was notified of a €1.1 million grant towards the provision of the new building, a site for which has been identified on the Graignamanagh Relief Road. The local authority has procured the appointment of consultants PJ Tobin Consulting Engineers to provide the detail design, tender documents and contract oversight. It is hoped the new station will be ready for action by the second quarter of next year.
