Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick unveils the plaque at the tree in the centre of Johnswell
A new plaque unveiled in the centre of Johnswell villagereads, Timpeall an Crann (around the tree).
The simple words encompass what Johnswell is all about, inclusivity.
The plaque on the green, across from the village pump marks the fantastic work done by Kilkenny County Council.
Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick, who unveiled the plaque spoke of the new area around the tree which will be used for summer activities, barbecues and get-togethers.
He said that the latest improvements to the village and the new seating area on the village green were designed by Paddy Holohan and built by local volunteers.
Cllr Fitzpatrick congratulated everyone involved and said community spirit was so much part of everything that happens in Johnswell and that it was a template that should be adopted across the county.
After the event a great night’s entertainment was held in Brennan’s bar with lots of traditional music.
“Johnswell is pleasure to visit with new lighting in the village, a new road surface, extra car parking and many other little improvements over the years, it is an example to every other place in the county,” he said.
