A Kilkenny woman has been appointed to a high-powered job with one of the world’s leading companies, PepsiCo.

Mary McEvoy, formerly of Michael Street in the city, has been promoted to vice-president, global procurement-commodities, with the company in New York.

There, she will provide leadership across the company’s sweeteners, grains, oils and energy categories, with responsibility for developing and executing strategies, managing the sustainability agenda and delivering productivity.

The daughter of Breda and the late Dan McEvoy, Mary was educated at the Lake school, Loreto Secondary School, and DIT Kevin Street, where she obtained a BSc in Physics and Chemistry from Trinity College. In her younger days, she was a keen athlete with Kilkenny City Harriers and played camogie with Dicksboro.

Mary joined PepsiCo in 1998 as an R&D scientist before transitioning to global procurement in 2003. Her most recent role was that of senior director of the global sweeteners division.

Mary has lived in New York since 1994 and is married with two children.
