The warm humid weather looks likely to continue this week, albeit with a risk of showers at times

Kilkenny looks set to be facing a warm and humid week, with some showers, and fresher conditions toward the weekend.

This weekend may not have brought the bursts of sunshine some expected, but temperatures remained high. More cloudy weather is expected here today (Monday), which will be largely dry at first with the odd bright spell, but outbreaks of drizzle expected.

Brighter and fresher conditions will develop in the northwest of Leinster towards evening. Highest temperatures are expected to be in the region of 20 to 24 degrees in mostly light, southwest or westerly winds.

Tuesday will see a bright and drier day, with some sunny spells and just an isolated shower, while Wednesday and Thursday look set to bring more cloudy and potentially showery conditions, albeit small. Temperatures, however, will remain between 18 and 23 degrees celsius.

Friday is set to be a brighter and fresher day, with strong sunshine in the morning and potential for showers in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Niall Dollard of kilkennweather.com notes: 'A fresh dry day for Saturday and Sunday will see rain spreading in from the south west and this might deliver a decent fall. Outlook for next week is for it to turn warm and dry again as this endless summer continues'.
