There are more patients waiting on trolleys in Kilkenny than in hospitals in neighbouring counties Waterford and Wexford today.
There are 19 people on trolleys and the ward at Kilkenny's St Luke's Hospital today, Tuesday, July 24, according the latest trolley and ward watch figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
The nationwide figure is 414, an increase of 26% on the same day last year when there were 328 patients on trolleys.
The hospitals with the highest numbers on Tuesday are Cork University Hospital (60), University Hospital Limerick (49) and Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (35).
Other figures for Tuesday include South Tipperary General Hospital (20), Wexford General Hospital (1) and Waterford University Hospital (8).
