Count 11 has been completed at Cillin Hill, and Ann Phlean is the first candidate to break the 12,000 barrier.

She is at the top of the poll on 12,066, just shy of the quota.

Fine Gael remain in the driving seat for three seats, with Pat Deering receiving over one thousand transfers from Hennifer Murnane O’Connor (FF).

Kathleen Funchion’s vote of 7,091 will now be distributed,

The wait to elect TD’s will be concluded on the next count, with as many as four likely to be elected and Ann Phelan may remain topping the poll.

The final seat will be between Pat Deering (FG) and Bobby Aylward (FF) with Deering favourite to win it, possibly without reaching the quota.

It is likely that for Ann Phelan, it is the return of a Labour seat for the constituency, and the first ever woman to the top the poll in Carlow/Kilkenny.
