What is your stance on the need for a home for the elderly in Kilkenny city?
I believe there should be a home for the elderly in the city funded by the voluntary sector to compliment the existing private homes. I have always fought to protect our elderly as they lay the foundations that we are building on today.
What is your stance on the Universal Social Charge?
The blunt application of the USC has thrown up anomalies. The charge needs to be re-engineered to extract greater payments from the top of the scale so that those on the bottom pay less. It has always been my political philosophy to protect the vulnerable in society.
With the end of funding for the Kilkenny job fit centre, which was successfully getting people back into employment, what would you do to help the unemployed?
Job Fit should be funded on the basis of a rolling 3 year budget and be attached to an amalgamation of Fas and the County Enterprise Boards to maximise job training, job placement and job creation.
Apart from yourself, which other four candidates will be elected?
The choice is for the electorate. My hope is that those candidates most willing to put people first in every policy of Government will be elected and that those elected will be innovative, creative and courageous for Ireland.
In 20 words or less, why should people vote for you?
Because I am an active, determined and committed politician at both local and national level and available to those I represent 24/7.
