THE Cat Laughs Comedy Festival’s search for Ireland’s best new comedy talent is coming to Cleere’s pub, Kilkenny next week.
The event on May 12 at 8pm will be a chance to catch local fledgling comics sweating it out on the stage to win a place in the All-Ireland Grand Final and perform at the Cat Laughs Comedy Festival in June.
This All-Ireland talent search involves of a series of regional and Dublin heats, with the overall winner claiming a cash prize and winning a spot at this year’s festival in Kilkenny.
Entrants will perform five to seven minutes of original material. All genres of comedy are welcome, including but not limited to standup, group, sketch and musical.
The Kilkenny heat in Cleere’s on May 12 will be hosted by comedians Andrew Stanley and Damian Clark with a selection of judges from Cat Laughs Comedy Festival, industry figures and journalists.
Overall winners from each heat will go on to battle it out for the top prize in Dublin on May 25 at the Grand Social venue.
