Two local housing estates were approved to be taken in charge by Kilkenny County Council at its meeting on Monday.
Members approved the taking in charge of Donaguile Court at Donaguile, Castlecomer and Cottage Gardens in Graignamanagh.
Part of the bond (e18,000) was claimed for works relating to a retaining wall in Cottage Gardens and after “an ongoing issue with the retaining wall was rectified recently”, the council approved the remedial works carried out. The application to be taken in charge was made in February 2009, but according to the council, the issue of the wall “significantly delayed the taking-in-charge process”.
Regarding Donaguile Court, no objections or representations were received by the council when the notice of being taken in charge was put on public display.
“The estate was completed in a satisfactory manner. In addition the roads contained in the development are considered to be of a public utility,” the council found. “There are little or no financial implications in taking this estate in charge.”
