Ready for winter with 4,000 tonnes of salt

The summer months may have just come to an end, but Kilkenny County Council is already looking ahead to the winter.

The summer months may have just come to an end, but Kilkenny County Council is already looking ahead to the winter.

It currently has 4,000 tonnes of salt on hand to treat the county’s road in the case of winter weather, an amount that should be “well in excess of our requirement,” director of services John Mulholland told Monday’s County Council meeting. “That puts us in a way better position than we have had for the past two years.”

And before the coldest months arrive, a Winter Awareness Week will be held in October.
