Permission sought for nursing home at Goresbridge

Permission is being sought for a 65-bed nursing home at Goresbridge.

Permission is being sought for a 65-bed nursing home at Goresbridge.

Planning permission for the nursing home is being sought from Kilkenny County Council by KSQ Consultants Ltd, which had already been approved for a development at Barrowmount, Goresbridge.

The 2.4-hectare site is on the southern approach to Goresbridge village, with access off local primary road L-2642.

The original plans for the site, which were granted planning permission in January 2007, included a housing development 27 dwellings and four serviced sites, according to planning files. The number of sites was then increased from 31 to 44 when a change was approved by the council in December 2009.

Now the developer is seeking to omit sites numbers 7 to 44 and instead build a 65-bed nursing home, “with connection to existing services and all associated site works.”

A decision is due by January 19, 2012.
