LOCAL Green Party Councillor Malcolm Noonan has expressed his concern with the management of trees in the city centre.
“The pruning back of trees from own property has done huge damage to the city’s trees,” he said at a recent meeting of Kilkenny Borough Council.
“Some have literally been cut in two.”
Cllr Noonan also urged the council to exercise restraint in the application of weed killer.
“I would ask that we try to minimise the use of herbicides in the city,” he said.
They do have a detrimental effect on wildlife.”
