Kilkenny Bereavement Support will host an information night in St Patrick’s Parish Centre, Loughboy on September 11 at 8pm, with an emphasis on loss through suicide.
The speakers will be county coroner Tim Kiely; Sean Mc Carthy, suicide resource officer with the HSE South; and Padraig McMorrow, administrator with Kilkenny Bereavement Support.
Kilkenny Bereavement Support offers support to people of all ages who have been bereaved either recently or in the past. Most of the work involves meeting one-to-one with a trained volunteer. For those bereaved by suicide, Kilkenny Bereavement Support has other assistance in place. Besides the one-to-one work, there is also an open meeting that takes place on the first Thursday of every month at 8pm in Villa Maria, Freshford Road, Kilkenny.
In the spring of every year, there is a healing group formed. This group meets almost every week for eight sessions.
The information night on September 11 promises to be of interest to all those who have been bereaved or who work with the bereaved. Light refreshments will be served. For information, phone 056 7756538. All are welcome.
