The Southern Association of Camera Clubs (SACC) will hold the regional qualifying round of the Irish Photographic Federation in the Newpark Hotel this Sunday, January 27. Kilkenny Photographic Society will host the event, which will be run by the SACC.
Most of the region’s 32 photography clubs, representing over 1500 photographers from nine counties are expected to take part. Thos photographers whose entries receive qualifying scores in Kilkenny will automatically go forward to the national finals.
Two of the country’s most prestigious nature photographers are to judge the event. They are Mark Sedgwick from Celbridge Camera Club and Des Connors from Mid-Louth Camera Club – both Fellows of the IPF.
Hosting the event is a major part of Kilkenny Photography Society’s policy in promoting photography, one of the fastest-growing activities in Ireland. People are invited to come and view the images on display, with judging beginning in early afternoon. For more details, see www.sascc.ie.
