A CASTLECOMER woman will play for Dublin against Offaly in Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Junior A Camogie Championship final.
Georgina Kelly is from Castlecomer and cites DJ Carey and Willie O’Connor as her sporting heroes. On Sunday, she will be playing for Dublin against Offaly in the Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Junior A Camogie Championship final.
“I have never played in an All-Ireland final before at any level. It’s nice to be part of it. The girls have worked so hard,” she notes.
It’s her first year playing for Dublin. “We have had a wonderful season. It has all gone well so far.
“The girls made me feel very welcome. I appreciated that even more because I’m not from Dublin. But they saw to it that I fitted right in.”
Georgina, who played underage for Kilkenny is thrilled that she has returned to the sport.
“I gave it up for a couple of years. I only came back to it last season.” she said.
“I’m so glad I did. It’s great to be back. I’m sorry I waited so long. I missed it. I feel fortunate that I am taking the frees because there are other people who have the ability to take them,” she reasons.
“I’m just happy to see them go over because it’s the work of the other players that have earned them in the first place. They should be getting the credit rather than me,” she said.
