HOUSEHOLDERS in Castlecomer, Stoneyford and Urlingford can look forward
to upgrades in sewerage services in their areas over the coming
months, according to Fine Gael TD, John Paul Phelan.
Contracts for upgrades in these areas were advertised on December 30
and the closing date for receipt of tenders is February 26, 2014,
Deputy Phelan said. “Each upgrade will be designed to make the
discharge compliant with legal standards and will allow for small
expansion in each location.
“It is proposed that one contractor will upgrade all 3 plants by means
of a design and build process.
And following the upgrade, the three plants will be maintained by Kilkenny County Council in the normal fashion,” he added.
Deputy Phelan said the upgrade works is good news for residents in all three areas and looks forward to further schemes being announced
throughout 2014, investments which will improve the quality of life and of waste water for residents and future developers in the areas which will be upgraded.
The 34-year-old from Tullogher in south Kilkenny also confirmed provision of €50,000 each for three youth cafes Graignamanagh, Ossory Youth Services and Castlecomer Youth Cafe and will help finance safe and comfortable meeting places for teens as well as a forum through which music and other talents can be showcased.
