A dead dolphin washed up on the shore of Tramore beach on Wednesday evening much to the shock of a number of Kilkenny residents who had gone to the beach to take advantage of the good weather.
The common dolphin had been washed up on to the beach just 100 metres beyond the end of the car park on Tramore strand. Sightings Co-ordinator with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group, Pádraig Whooley, said that there was nothing suspicious in the death of the dolphin. He said “There’s not a whole lot of mystery as to why dolphins might be dying, in common with all animals, death is inevitable! Just that with terrestrial animals it is generally out of sight and out of mind.”
