Details announced for changes to Piltown bypass

Plans for “junction improvements” on the N24 Piltown bypass have been published by Kilkenny County Council.

Plans for “junction improvements” on the N24 Piltown bypass have been published by Kilkenny County Council.

The plans include “the modification of two local road junctions (LP1038 and LP1039) on the N24 National Primary road, west of Piltown. Right turns out of these junctions will not be possible. Left turns from the N24 into the LP1039 junction will be prohibited. A new link road will be provided between the Turret and Piltown Tower. A new left-in left-out junction onto the N24 will be provided via a new link road and overbridge southwest of Piltown Tower. A local access onto the south side of the N24, serving a number of properties, will be closed. Access to these properties will be via a new access road which will have a junction onto the new link road beside the new overbridge. The scheme also includes other minor and consequential works associated with the scheme.”

Full details of the plans are available for public inspection at County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny and at the council’s Newrath Area Office until December 2.

Submissions regarding the plans can be may be made in writing to John Mulholland, Director of Services, Roads and Transportation, Kilkenny County Council, County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny by December 16.
