Witnesses are afraid to be named in case of reprisal. The youngster who owned the cat has been severely traumatised by the incident. He explained that he had found the little kitten a year ago and brought it with him to his new home, off the Callan Road. He said that “Niki” was his pride and joy and that he got out of the house on Thursday night and that despite attempts to locate him, they were unable to do so. His friend was also on the lookout for the feline when he came across the two boys killing the cat, a few yards from its home. The Gardai were notified and went to the scene.
