A RUMOUR that circulated on Facebook before Christmas alleging that a young person was abducted in MacDonagh Junction and then had their head shaved in the toilets there has been categorically denied by the shopping centre.
The story was “absolutely false and untrue,” said centre manager Donie Butler, who emphasised that “there is no evidence to substantiate this Facebook allegation. We have an extremely extensive CCTV system which aids our team ensure a safe and enjoyable shopping experience and this has been viewed by the Kilkenny gardaí. No such incident was reported to any member of our security, cleaning, car park staff teams, customer services staff, any of our stores or indeed the centre management team.”
MacDonagh Junction has reported the “malicious rumour” to Kilkenny gardaí, Mr Butler said, and an investigation is being conducted to find the source of the original post “through Facebook Ireland and other sources.”
