Further time given to build retirement village

A FURTHER five years has been granted for the development of a retirement village at Golf Links Road and Newpark Lower, Kilkenny.

A FURTHER five years has been granted for the development of a retirement village at Golf Links Road and Newpark Lower, Kilkenny.

Kilkenny Borough Council has given its approval for an application by Clancy Construction seeking further time to complete a 62-bedroom nursing home, 43 bungalows and three retirement apartment blocks with a total of 53 apartments and a day care centre.

The planning file cites the economic downturn as the reason for the development not being carried out: “The applicant states that there were considerations of a commercial and economic nature beyond their control which substantially militated against the commencement of development pursuant to the planning permission.”
